Catalog of noninteracting tight-binding models with two energy bands in one dimension

چکیده

We classify Hermitian tight-binding models describing noninteracting electrons on a one-dimensional periodic lattice with two energy bands. To do this, we write generalized Rice-Mele model orbitals per unit cell, including all possible complex-valued long-range hoppings consistent Hermicity. then apply different forms of time-reversal, charge-conjugation and chiral symmetry in order to constrain the parameters, resulting an array classes. For each class, define single, canonical form Hamiltonian identify that are related by off-diagonal unitary transformation atomic basis. The have either symmorphic or nonsymmorphic nonspatial symmetries (time $T$, charge-conjugation). category separates into types state matter: insulator $\mathbb{Z}_2$ topological index absence time-reversal or, presence symmetry, metallic state. latter is instance Kramer's degeneracy one point Brillouin zone as opposed no points systems $T^2 = 1$ - 1$.

Calculation for Energy of (111) Surfaces of Palladium in Tight Binding Model

In this work calculation of energetics of transition metal surfaces is presented. The tight-binding model is employed in order to calculate the energetics. The tight-binding basis set is limited to d orbitals which are valid for elements at the end of transition metals series. In our analysis we concentrated on electronic effects at temperature T=0 K, this means that no entropic term will be pr...

Tight-Binding Calculation of Silicon Bands

In this work we implement a tight-binding calculation of the energy bands of silicon. This traditional method is still employed as a useful approximation for the electronic motion in solids. The tight-binding wavefunctions are taken as linear combinations of atomic orbitals located at each atom in the crystal, based on phase factors e(ik·R) (R are the position of such atoms) for coefficients. T...

Energy band correction due to one dimension tension in phosphorene

Among graphene-like family, phosphorene is a typical semiconducting layered material, which can also be a superconductor in low temperature. Applying pressure or tension on phosphorene lattice results in changing the hopping terms, which change the energy bands of the material. In this research we use the tight-binding Hamiltonian, including relevant hopping terms, to calculate energy bands of ...

Superdiffusivity of Asymmetric Energy Model in Dimension One and Two

We discuss an asymmetric energy model (AEM) introduced by Giardina et al. in [10]. This model is expected to belong to the KPZ class. We obtain lower bounds for the diffusion coefficient. In particular, the diffusion coefficient is diverging in dimension one and two as it is expected in the KPZ picture.

Landau levels in the case of two degenerate coupled bands : kagomé lattice tight - binding spectrum

The spectrum of charged particles hopping on a kagomé lattice in a uniform transverse magnetic field shows an unusual set of Landau levels at low field. They are unusual in two respects: the lowest Landau levels are paramagnetic so their energies decrease linearly with increasing field magnitude, and the spacings between the levels are not equal. These features are shown to follow from the dege...
